Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, attended the Maha Kumbh Mela and performed a ritual bath at the Triveni Sangam.
Clad in a full-sleeve deep orange jersey and blue lowers, Prime Minister Modi held ‘rudraksh’ beads in his hands while performing the ritual bath, accompanied by chants of mantras.
Wearing a ‘rudraksh’ necklace, the Prime Minister offered prayers to the Sun and River Ganga.
Prime Minister Modi traveled by boat from Arail Ghat to Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati converge. He was accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath earlier welcomed Prime Minister Modi upon his arrival in Prayagraj.
Held once every 12 years, the Maha Kumbh began on January 13 and will continue until February 26. It is regarded as one of the holiest pilgrimages for Hindus. The grand festival at the banks of the Sangam has attracted millions of pilgrims from across India and the world.
According to the Uttar Pradesh government, more than 38 crore devotees have visited the Maha Kumbh so far.
